Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 beaten egg yolks
  • 2 1/4 c. cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 stiffly beaten egg whites
  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. orange juice
  • 1/2 c. lemon juice
  • grated rind of both orange and lemon

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar;
  2. add
  3. egg
  4. yolks
  5. and
  6. beat well. Add sifted dry
  7. ingredients
  8. alternately with juice and rind. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake
  9. at 350° in two 8-inch round cake pans.
