Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups warm water
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 packets RapidRise dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, sugar, shortening, salt, and dry yeast together.
  2. Add yeast with flour to make a stiff dough. Let rise until doubled in size.
  3. Divide dough into two pieces on floured wax paper. Let rise for 15 minutes.
  4. Shape each piece into a loaf and place in greased pans.
  5. Let the shaped loaves rise again until puffy.
  6. Bake at 400°F until golden brown.
