Ingredients

  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon extract

Instructions

  1. Cream Crisco and sugar together.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Pour in milk and vanilla or lemon extract, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Add flour, baking powder, and salt, beating after each addition.
  5. Beat the batter for an additional two minutes.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and sugar-coated tube pan.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before serving; no frosting needed.
