Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk gradually to form a soft dough.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/3 inch thickness on a floured surface.
  5. Dot the rolled dough with small pieces of butter.
  6. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the surface.
  7. Roll up the dough tightly, then cut into slices.
  8. Place the slices on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until golden.
