- In a large bowl, combine maple syrup, milk, eggs and shortening; beat well.
- Add remaining ingredients, except oil; mix until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and pat to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut with doughnut cutter into rounds.
