Mapley Nut Bars

Instructions
- Heat oven to 375°.
- Mix flour and granulated sugar in a bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into bottom of a greased 9-inch square baking pan.
- Bake 15 minutes or until very lightly browned.
- Beat egg, brown sugar, syrup, melted butter and vanilla in a bowl until well blended. Stir in nuts.
- Spread evenly over warm crust.
- Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until topping is firm around edges but slightly soft in middle.
- Cool in pan.
- Cut into bars.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
