Maque Chou
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons shortening ⓘ
- 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped ⓘ
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper ⓘ
- 12 ears fresh corn, cleaned and kernels cut from cob ⓘ
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes ⓘ
- 1/4 cup milk ⓘ
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper ⓘ
- Dash of red pepper ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine ⓘ
Instructions
- Melt shortening in a large Dutch oven. Add onion and green pepper; saute until tender. Add corn, tomatoes, milk, salt, sugar, and pepper. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in butter before serving.
