Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 lb. flour
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. warm water

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast in 1 cup warm water with 1 tablespoon sugar. Stir well and let sit for 10 to 12 minutes until foamy.
  2. Rub 4 cups of flour with 1/2 stick of margarine, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar until well combined. Make a well in the center.
  3. Add the yeast mixture into the well.
  4. Stir in a little of the mixture to combine.
  5. Add 3 1/2 cups warm water and mix until the dough begins to come together.
  6. Knead the dough in the pan for 10 to 12 minutes, adding flour underneath and turning as needed.
  7. Oil the bottom of the pan and turn the dough so it is oiled on all sides.
  8. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  9. Turn the risen dough onto a floured board and divide into 4 equal pieces. Shape each into loaves or buns.
  10. Let the shaped loaves or buns rise until doubled in bulk.
  11. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30 to 45 minutes until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
