- Activate yeast in 1 cup warm water with 1 tablespoon sugar. Stir well and let sit for 10 to 12 minutes until foamy.
- Rub 4 cups of flour with 1/2 stick of margarine, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar until well combined. Make a well in the center.
- Add the yeast mixture into the well.
- Stir in a little of the mixture to combine.
- Add 3 1/2 cups warm water and mix until the dough begins to come together.
- Knead the dough in the pan for 10 to 12 minutes, adding flour underneath and turning as needed.
- Oil the bottom of the pan and turn the dough so it is oiled on all sides.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Turn the risen dough onto a floured board and divide into 4 equal pieces. Shape each into loaves or buns.
- Let the shaped loaves or buns rise until doubled in bulk.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30 to 45 minutes until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
