  • 1 family size can frozen orange juice, diluted
  • 1 (46 oz.) can pineapple juice
  • 1 can crushed pineapple
  • 5 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • maraschino cherries
  • 3 qt. ginger ale

Instructions

  1. Combine water and sugar; bring to a boil.
  2. Cool the mixture.
  3. Add diluted orange juice, pineapple juice, crushed pineapple, mashed bananas, lemon juice, and maraschino cherries.
  4. Mix well and freeze.
  5. To serve, remove from the freezer one hour before serving.
  6. Add 3 quarts of ginger ale before serving.

Tips & Substitutions

For a less sweet punch, reduce the sugar to 3 cups or substitute with a sugar alternative like stevia. If fresh bananas aren't available, you can use frozen bananas instead. For a tropical twist, consider adding coconut water or using Imitation Canned Pineapple for a different flavor profile. Chilling the ginger ale before adding it can enhance the drink's refreshment.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this vibrant punch in a large bowl over ice with extra maraschino cherries on top for garnish. It pairs wonderfully with summer dishes like Caribbean Spice Chicken or can be enjoyed as a festive drink during gatherings. Consider serving it alongside light appetizers for a refreshing contrast.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer. This punch can hold well for about a week. To enjoy later, simply remove it from the freezer and let it thaw in the refrigerator for several hours. If it becomes too solid, you can stir it to break up the ice and reintroduce some of the original flavors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this punch ahead of time?

Yes, this punch is perfect for making ahead. Prepare it a day in advance and freeze it. Just remember to take it out an hour before serving to allow it to soften slightly. This way, the flavors will meld beautifully, and it will be perfectly chilled when served.

Is it possible to make this punch non-alcoholic?

Absolutely! This recipe is naturally non-alcoholic, but if you want to make a fun mocktail version, simply omit any spirits and focus on the fruit juices and ginger ale. You can also add some fresh fruit slices for garnish to enhance the presentation.

How can I adjust the flavor if it's too sweet?

If you find the punch too sweet, you can balance it by adding more lemon juice or even a splash of lime juice for acidity. Additionally, serving it over ice can dilute the sweetness as the ice melts, or you can mix in some soda water for a lighter touch.
