- Bring water, vinegar, and kosher salt to a boil.
- Prepare quart jars with alum, garlic, dill, and cucumbers.
- Add 1/2 banana pepper to each jar for extra spice, if desired.
- Pack jars with cucumbers and other ingredients.
- Pour hot brine into jars until 1/2 inch below the rim.
- Seal the jars and leave on surface, covering with a towel to avoid drafts. Do not process.
