Ingredients

  • 1 package fillo dough
  • 1 1/4 cups ground beef
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and drain excess fat.
  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper to taste. Melt the margarine and set aside.
  3. Divide the fillo dough package in half. Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  4. Place the first sheet of fillo in the pan and brush it with margarine.
  5. Repeat until the first half of the fillo dough is used, then spread the beef mixture evenly over it.
  6. Cover the beef mixture with the remaining fillo sheets, brushing each sheet with margarine as you layer.
  7. Cut the assembled pastry into 3 to 3.5-inch squares.
  8. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the top of the pastry.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
