Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 8 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Beat egg whites until foamy.
  2. Add cream of tartar and water. Beat until stiff and in peaks.
  3. Gradually add sugar, 1 or 2 tablespoons at a time.
  4. Beat well after each addition.
  5. Continue beating until very stiff.
  6. Spread over pie filling.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until brown.
