Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm milk.
  2. Combine the yeast mixture with the sugar, flour, salt, melted shortening, egg, and enough additional milk to form a dough.
  3. Roll out the dough thinly and cut into squares.
  4. Let the cut dough rise slightly.
  5. Deep fry the squares until golden brown.
  6. Serve the sopaipillas warm with honey.
