Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • dash of ground nutmeg
  • dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Heat milk at High for 3 to 4 minutes until very hot, but not boiling.
  2. Combine eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat until well blended.
  4. Gradually add hot milk to the egg mixture, beating well.
  5. Divide the mixture evenly between 6 custard cups.
  6. Place the cups in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle ground nutmeg over each custard.
  8. Pour about 1/2 cup hot water around the cups in the baking dish.
  9. Cook at Medium (50%) power for 8 1/2 minutes, rearranging cups after 3 minutes.
  10. Continue cooking at Medium for 5 minutes, testing for doneness every 30 seconds and removing any that are soft set.
