Ingredients

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. hot milk
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • vanilla
  • 1 box zwieback
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. margarine

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch and hot milk and cook over low heat until thick.
  2. Cool; add vanilla.
  3. Crush 1 box zwieback; add 2 tablespoons sugar and melted margarine.
  4. Press mixture firmly in 8-inch pie plate, reserving some crumbs to sprinkle on top.
  5. Make topping with 3 egg whites, beaten stiff.
  6. Brown in hot oven.
