Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. flour
  • 4 Tbsp. sour milk (1 Tbsp. vinegar and 3 Tbsp. milk)
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. finely chopped apples
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts (if desired)

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together.
  2. Add soda, salt, flour, sour milk, vanilla, apples and chopped walnuts, if desired. Mix all together and spoon into greased loaf pan.
