Ingredients

  • 1 peck dandelion heads
  • 1 gallon boiling water
  • 5 lb sugar
  • 1 package yeast
  • Oranges

Instructions

  1. Gather 1 peck of dandelion heads from an area not treated with pesticides or herbicides.
  2. Wash the dandelion heads thoroughly to remove bugs.
  3. Combine the washed dandelion heads with 1 gallon of boiling water in a large container.
  4. Let the flower heads steep for 24 hours.
  5. Strain the juice from the mixture.
  6. Add sugar, yeast, and selected fruit (oranges, lemons, pineapples) to the juice.
  7. Place the mixture in a warm, dark area to ferment without stirring.
  8. Allow it to ferment quietly for about 2 weeks.
  9. When the desired potency is reached, siphon off the liquid and filter through cheesecloth.
  10. Refrigerate the wine and serve when ready.
