Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lb. roast beef
  • 2 large onions
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 4 to 6 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook roast beef until very tender (3 to 4 hours).
  2. Remove fat and pull apart into bite sized pieces.
  3. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 3 to 10 hours and add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve over raisin bread.
