- Using a large pot, brown the meat.
- Add all spices, except garlic powder.
- Stir.
- After simmering for 1 to 2 minutes, generously sprinkle meat-spice mixture with ketchup and garlic powder.
- Stir and continue to simmer.
- Add the 2 cans of beans and mix well.
- Bring to a boil.
- Continue at simmer for 2 hours.
- Do not skimp on simmering.
- This mixes the flavors.
- For moisture, use beer during cooking as needed.
- Serve with shredded Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese.
