Never Fail Scones
These classic, flaky scones are quick to make with simple ingredients, perfect for breakfast or tea time. Light, buttery, and slightly sweet, they suit all occasions.

- Beat together the egg and sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Add 3/4 cup of milk and the melted butter to the egg mixture and stir to combine.
- In a separate bowl, mix the self-rising flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the egg-milk mixture.
- Add up to an additional 1/4 cup of milk if needed, until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
- Pat the dough flat to about 3/4-inch thickness.
- Use a 1 1/2-inch cutter to cut out scones and place them close together on a floured baking sheet.
- Bake at 500°F (260°C) for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
