  2. Bring to a boil for a few seconds.
  3. Add the sugar and canned milk, mixed with 1 can of water.
  4. Add about 1 1/2 quarts of milk and cook slowly until thickened, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, consider using whole milk instead of canned milk. You can substitute the sugar with honey or maple syrup for a natural sweetness. If you like a richer flavor, add a pinch of salt during cooking. Ensure to stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot. This dish pairs beautifully with My Favorite Snack: A Basket Of Fruit.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this delightful rice pudding warm or chilled, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg for added flavor. It can be enjoyed as a comforting dessert on its own or paired with English Tea Biscuits for a lovely afternoon treat. You can also add fresh fruit or nuts for extra texture and taste.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of milk to restore creaminess. Alternatively, you can microwave it in short intervals, stirring in between until heated through.
