Ingredients

  • 5 heaping cups flour
  • 1 pint lukewarm milk
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 packages dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Blend sugar, shortening, and eggs until well combined.
  2. Dissolve dry yeast in 1/6 cup warm water and let it activate.
  3. Add half of the flour, sugar, shortening, eggs, salt, and yeast mixture; mix well.
  4. Add the remaining flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Let the dough rise until double in size, then knead and shape into biscuits.
  6. Let the shaped dough rise again until double in size.
  7. Bake at 350°F until golden and done.
