Nut Roll(Strudel)

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. hot scalded milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in water.
  2. Combine in bowl sugar, butter, milk and salt.
  3. Cool to lukewarm.
  4. Blend in eggs and yeast.
  5. Gradually blend in flour to make a stiff dough.
  6. Knead until smooth and satiny.
  7. Place in greased bowl.
  8. Let rise until light.
  9. Divide into 3 or 4 parts.
  10. Roll out, spread with Nut Filling (or poppy seed filling).
  11. Roll like jelly roll.
  12. Put on baking pans.
  13. Let rise again.
  14. Bake in 350° oven until done (about 35 minutes).
