Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 pounds mixed lean meat (beef, pork, veal), cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 (1 pound) cans sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 bay leaf, crumbled
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a large heavy skillet, sauté chopped onion in oil.
  2. Add the cubed mixed meat and fry for 30 minutes.
  3. Stir in drained sauerkraut and crumbled bay leaf.
  4. Simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours, until meat and sauerkraut are tender.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Just before serving, stir in the sour cream.
