Old Fashioned Corn Light Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 qt. hot water
  • 1 1/4 c. meal
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 1 1/2 c. meal
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Add the hot water to 1 1/4 cups meal.
  2. Make this into mush. Set off to cool, then add cold water and enough meal to make a thick mush.
  3. This will take 1 1/2 cups meal.
  4. Cover and set in a warm place until the next day.
  5. Let it rise.
