Old-Fashioned Cucumber Pickles

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. cucumbers
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 4 c. vinegar
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. pickling spice or 1 tsp. ground cinnamon and 1 tsp. ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Mix vinegar, sugar, water and spice.
  2. Bring to a boil; add cucumbers.
  3. Return to boil.
  4. Cook until cucumbers change to dark green.
  5. Put in jars; cover with juice and seal.
  6. Any juice left over may be saved and added to next canning juice.
