Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Mazola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 4 c. flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg or 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream together sugar, oil and eggs.
  2. Add milk.
  3. Sift remaining ingredients together, then add this mixture to the sugar, Mazola oil, eggs and milk.
  4. Knead like bread dough.
  5. Roll on floured board 1/2-inch thick.
  6. Cut in pieces about 3 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide.
  7. Then cut through this twice with a knife.
  8. Drop in hot shortening and brown lightly, then brown other side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
