Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 1/2 quarts milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. In a 2 1/2-quart baking dish, combine rice, milk, sugar, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Bake at 325°F for 2 1/2 hours, stirring twice during the first hour and several times during the remaining time.
  3. Add raisins 1/2 hour before the pudding is done and allow crust to form again during the final baking time.
  4. Serve warm or cold with cream, if desired.
