Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add sugar, shortening, salt, egg, and 1 cup of flour.
- Beat for 2 minutes.
- Add remaining 2 cups of flour and beat until dough crawls up beaters.
- Cover with a wet towel and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until double in bulk.
- Punch down the dough.
- Pour onto a floured board and knead until easy to handle.
- Shape as desired.
- Place in a pan and let rise for 1 hour.
- Bake at 400°F until brown.
