Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • small amount cornstarch
  • 2 cups milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs in a bowl; add milk and mix well.
  2. Mix a small amount of cornstarch and salt with sugar.
  3. Add this sugar mixture and vanilla to the egg mixture and stir until combined.
  4. Pour the custard filling into the unbaked pie shell.
  5. Sprinkle the top with nutmeg.
  6. Bake in a 425°F oven for 20 minutes.
  7. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 20 minutes until set.
