Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 medium eggs

Instructions

  1. Sift together the cake flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. In a bowl, add shortening, half of the milk, orange and almond extracts, and 1 egg; beat well.
  3. Add the remaining milk and eggs; beat until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
