Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
  • 4 c. shredded red cabbage
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. tarragon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Put the bacon drippings into a skillet.
  2. Melt the drippings over medium heat.
  3. Add the shredded red cabbage, sugar, water, salt, pepper, and tarragon vinegar to the skillet.
  4. Stir to blend all the ingredients well.
  5. Cover the pan and simmer for 30 minutes until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Serve hot as a flavorful side dish.
