Soft, fluffy homemade rolls with a slightly sweet flavor, perfect for breakfast or dinner. Ideal for family gatherings, picnics, or as a comforting side dish.

Ingredients

  • 6 or 7 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Scald milk and add butter, sugar, and salt.
  3. Mix well and let it cool to lukewarm.
  4. Add 1 cup of flour and beat well.
  5. Mix in eggs and yeast.
  6. Gradually add enough flour to make a soft dough, beating well.
  7. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until double in size.
  8. Push the dough down and, with lightly greased hands, shape into rolls.
  9. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  10. Cover and let them rise until double in size.
  11. Bake in a hot oven at 400°F until brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
