Tips & Substitutions

For a tender steak, consider marinating the round steak in a mix of the tomatoes and onion soup for a few hours before cooking. You can substitute the round steak with chuck roast for a richer flavor. To thicken the sauce, add a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with water before sealing the cooking bag. Experiment with adding vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for added nutrition.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this Oven Swiss Steak with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the flavorful sauce. A side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad pairs well, adding color and crunch. For a classic American touch, consider serving it alongside Kraut Salad or Finger Jello for a well-rounded meal.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Swiss steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place it in a covered dish in the oven at 325°F until heated through, or microwave in short intervals, stirring occasionally to ensure even heating. The flavors improve after a day, making leftovers even more delicious.
