- Prepare cake mix and add 1/2 package of Jell-O before beating. Bake in cupcake pans according to directions on cake mix package. Cool 10 minutes in pans.
- Remove from pans; cool on racks. Dissolve remaining Jell-O in boiling water.
- Cream butter; add part of the sugar gradually, blending after each addition.
- Add remaining sugar alternately with Jell-O mixture, beating until smooth.
- Spread on cupcakes.
