Ingredients

  • 1 c. (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar until blended.
  2. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. Blend in flour.
  4. Spread evenly in well-buttered 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
  5. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 15 to 18 minutes until lightly browned.
  6. Remove from oven; quickly spread chocolate pieces over baked cookie base.
  7. Return to oven 2 to 3 minutes to soften chocolate.
  8. Remove from oven; immediately spread chocolate evenly over base.
  9. Make off in squares and top with the following:
  10. rainbow sprinkles, chopped nuts, coconut, crushed peppermint candy, etc.
  11. Chill just until frosting is set.
  12. Cut into squares.
  13. Arranged patchwork style on serving tray.
