Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup white corn syrup
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream
  • 2 cups or more raw peanuts
  • red cake coloring

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, corn syrup, whipping cream, peanuts, and red cake coloring in a large saucepan.
  2. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Cook over medium heat until it reaches the firm ball stage.
  5. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
  6. Cool slightly and then beat until the mixture thickens.
  7. Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool completely.
