Ingredients

  • 1 gallon fresh green peas
  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings or oil
  • salt to taste
  • 6 to 8 new potatoes

Instructions

  1. Pull strings from the peas and break them in half.
  2. Cook the peas over medium heat until almost done, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  3. Scrub the new potatoes with a brush or rough cloth.
  4. Rinse the potatoes and place them on top of the peas.
  5. Cook until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
