Ingredients

  • 6 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 sticks oleo
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla or lemon extract

Instructions

  1. Melt the oleo (margarine or butter).
  2. Beat the eggs until well combined.
  3. Add sugar to the eggs, then mix in the cooled, melted oleo.
  4. Gradually add the self-rising flour until the dough becomes very stiff.
  5. Pinch off pieces of dough the size of English walnuts and place them on a greased cookie sheet.
  6. Dip a round potato masher in a bowl of sugar and mash each dough ball nearly flat.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until the cookies are slightly browned.
