Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. fat
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 6 c. all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk and add sugar, fat, and salt.
  2. Cool the mixture to lukewarm temperature.
  3. Dissolve the dry yeast in lukewarm water.
  4. Mix the cooled milk mixture with enough flour to form a soft dough.
  5. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a well-greased bowl.
  7. Brush the top with melted butter and cover with a cloth.
  8. Put the bowl in a warm place and let the dough rise until doubled in size.
