Ingredients

  • 1 c. scalded milk
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Mix and cool the scalded milk, oil, sugar, and salt to lukewarm.
  2. Crumble 2 cakes of yeast into the mixture and stir until dissolved.
  3. Add 2 beaten eggs and 4½ cups of flour; mix to form a soft dough.
  4. Turn out onto a floured board and knead until smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth.
  6. Let rise until doubled in size, about 2 hours.
  7. Punch down the dough and let it stand for 10 minutes.
