Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 4 apples, peeled, cored, and quartered

Instructions

  1. Bring water, sugar, and nutmeg to a boil in a large deep skillet. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly reduced in volume.
  2. Add rum and apples to the skillet.
  3. Cover and simmer over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes, gently stirring 2 or 3 times, until apples are tender.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in raisins.
  5. Serve warm.
