Ingredients

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Spread popped popcorn on a large buttered pan (at least 17 x 12 x 2 inches).
  2. Sprinkle salted peanuts evenly over the popcorn.
  3. In a heavy frying pan, slowly melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown.
  4. Stir in margarine, vanilla, and baking soda into the caramelized sugar.
  5. Pour the hot caramel mixture in a fine stream over the popcorn and peanuts, spreading evenly.
  6. Allow to cool completely, then break into bite-sized pieces.
