Potted Beef Brisket

Ingredients

  • brisket of beef (first cut)
  • 3 large onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ketchup
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • salt
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 4 large potatoes

Instructions

  1. Brown brisket; keep turning and brown until it has all been seared.
  2. If it sticks as you brown, add water, a little at a time. When good and brown, slice the onions and garlic; continue to brown.
  3. Still add water if it sticks.
  4. When all brown, take a cup of water (not full).
  5. Shake in about 1/4 cup of ketchup.
  6. Shake in Worcestershire sauce into cup, also salt.
  7. Cook for 1 hour.
  8. Take meat out and slice thin.
  9. Put back in pot and keep cooking for about 2 1/2 hours more.
  10. The last 1/2 hour, put in the mushrooms and cut up potatoes.
  11. "It's outrageous."
