Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 2/3 c. hot water
  • 6 egg whites
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 pt. whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 lb. Oreo cookies

Instructions

  1. Strip cream out of cookies and set aside.
  2. Crush cookies to coarse crumbs and set aside.
  3. Dissolve unflavored gelatin in cold water and let stand for 10 minutes.
  4. Add hot water to the gelatin mixture and stir; let cool.
  5. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Add sugar to the egg whites and mix with an electric mixer.
  7. Fold in the cooled gelatin mixture into the egg whites.
  8. Whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  9. Fold the whipped cream into the egg white and gelatin mixture.
  10. Add vanilla extract to taste.
  11. Layer half of the crushed cookie crumbs into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  12. Pour the mixture over the crumbs in the pan.
  13. Top with the remaining crushed cookie crumbs.
  14. Freeze overnight.
  15. Serve the dessert frozen.
