Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp. water or wine
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. fresh ginger, finely chopped
  • 4 medium green onions, coarsely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp. Accent (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into thin slices about 3 inches square by 1/8-inch thick.
  2. This can be done at the butcher's shop.
  3. Marinate the beef in remaining ingredients for up to 1 1/2 hours. Traditionally, this meat is broiled at the table on a Korean pulgogi grill over charcoal, gas ring or hot plate.
  4. Otherwise, use a frying pan or oven-broiler.
  5. Pork or chicken may also be cooked this way.
