Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 6 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon flavoring

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and shortening well until creamy.
  2. Beat eggs separately and then add to the sugar and shortening mixture, combining thoroughly.
  3. Add flour and a pinch of salt to the mixture and stir until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into a tube pan and bake for 1 hour at 350°F (175°C).
