Ingredients

  • 1 cake mix (white, yellow or butter flavor)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 cups pumpkin pie mix
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold oleo

Instructions

  1. Mix together the cake mix (reserving 1 cup) with the melted butter, 2 eggs, and spread this mixture in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the pumpkin pie mix, evaporated milk, sugar, remaining eggs, and oleo; mix well.
  3. Pour the pumpkin mixture over the cake layer in the pan.
  4. Sprinkle the reserved 1 cup of cake mix over the pumpkin layer.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cool before serving. Optional: top with whipped cream.
