Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups lukewarm water
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups flour

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm water, dry yeast, sugar, shortening, and salt.
  2. Gradually stir in the flour until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the mixture rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
  4. Punch down the dough and shape into rolls with floured hands, or place in a greased loaf pan.
  5. Let rise until doubled in bulk.
  6. Bake at 425°F until golden brown.
