Refrigerated Crescent Rolls

- Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the remaining 1 1/2 cups warm water, sugar, egg, salt, and shortening; beat well.
- Add the dissolved yeast and 6 1/2 to 7 cups of flour; mix well.
- Store the dough in the refrigerator overnight.
- When ready to use, divide the dough into 4 balls.
- Roll each ball into a 10 or 12-inch circle and spread with soft margarine.
- Cut each circle into 12 pie-shaped pieces.
- Roll up each piece starting from the large end.
- Place the rolls on a greased cookie sheet and let rise for at least 2 hours.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.
