Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 6 1/2 to 7 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the remaining 1 1/2 cups warm water, sugar, egg, salt, and shortening; beat well.
  3. Add the dissolved yeast and 6 1/2 to 7 cups of flour; mix well.
  4. Store the dough in the refrigerator overnight.
  5. When ready to use, divide the dough into 4 balls.
  6. Roll each ball into a 10 or 12-inch circle and spread with soft margarine.
  7. Cut each circle into 12 pie-shaped pieces.
  8. Roll up each piece starting from the large end.
  9. Place the rolls on a greased cookie sheet and let rise for at least 2 hours.
  10. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.
